Every year Budapest also participates in the International Tourist Guide Day. Between 22 and 25 February, hiking tours, thematic walks, guided tours, building and museum visits will take place everywhere in the city. You may participate in most of the programs free of charge, but there are some where you might need to pay a small fee. All th programs need pre-registration. Last year more than 100 walks were organized, and the plan is the same for this year, too.
The event and programs are available on this website – www.bkik.hu – where you can register for each of them. Please note that many will be in Hungarian though.
Bálna will host the central events on Sunday (25 February). Free sightseeing buses, as well as special buses for people with wheelchair, will start from here.
In Bálna, the tourism and cultural institutions of Budapest will be present.
There will also be a sightseeing cruise on the Danube river, provided by Silverline. The starting point of the cruises will be the port 11 at the foot of the Erzsébet Bridge. On the tram lines 2 and 6 you’ll get on special vehicles. All these public transport means will need pre-registration, but you may register on-site as well for the seats that have remained vacant.
