If you are looking for the main venues of community life in Budapest during the winter season, don’t go any further. Since 1870, the City Park Ice Rink has been one of the city’s best arguments to spend a great day out with friends and family with the joy of sliding and gliding rather than stay at home in the cold.
The Ice Rink has, of course, changed over the years and has experienced some reconstructions. Obviously, the last works in 2011 are significant, and since then you can count on up-to-date services and absolutely modern operation.
Evidently such a place can not remain unused during the summer. So in the hottest months of the year, the City Park boating lake operates here to offer pleasure and refreshment for locals and visitors.
You can purchase the tickets on site at the cashiers: the admission for adults costs 1500-2000 HUF (about 5-7 euros). The price depends whether you want to enter the Ice Rink on a weekday or weekend. Entrance is free for children under the age of 6. Of course, you can hire skates on spot. The Ice Rink is open throughout the winter if weather allows. Opening hours: every day from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm.
The Boating Lake is open from 10.00 am to dusk depending on the weather. The lake is unsuitable for bathing, but boats, canoes and pedalos can be hired on site.
