The latest turning point in the life of the 110-year old Bem Cinema was in January 2016. The cinema reopened its doors and returned (almost) to its original function.
It is now operating as a repertory cinema, which means that they project film-classics from 35 mm film copy in the original language with Hungarian subtitles. The operators of the cinema constantly organize night projections and their future plans include midnight movies, “double feature” and trilogy projections.
This Friday, on March 2, 2018 you can go to the Bem Cinema and watch “A Clockwork Orange” directed by Stanley Kubrick. There will be two screenings: at 6:00 pm and at 9:00 pm.
The film is not recommended for under-eighteen.
Or go and watch on March 4, 2018 the Oscar Award nominated ‘On Body and Soul’ Hungarian movie with English subtitles. A film by Ildikó Enyedi, which won the European Film Award for Best Actress and the Golden Bear in Berlin.
The ticket costs about 3,- EUR and is also available in advance at Bem Cinema. Opening hours: every day between 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm.
There aren’t any pre-assigned seats, so you choose your seat in the order of arrival. Door opening approx. 5 minutes before the projection.
