The bar was named after a real person, Mika Tivadar, who – back in 1907 – wrote his name on the façade of the house he built and where he lived with his wife, Clementina Jelinek. He founded in the building an iron and copper factory.
In the summer of 2010 the present owners rebuilt the ground floor and cellar of this building. They had the idea of creating a place resembling the night clubs of the 1920s. The ground floor was designed accordingly. The cellar has become a bit more modern and rugged, because it is the place where guests can party until late in the night. The bar and night club was opened on December 17, 2010, and soon it became very popular.
In the spring of 2011 the open-air Mika Garden opened its gates next door. This one is completely full in the warm summer evenings of Budapest. In October 2011, a concert and dance hall was opened, named after Clementina Jelinek. This place hosts a lot of concerts, theater events, dance performances, conversations and parties.
